Seasonal Citrine - November's Warming Birthstone

As the end of the month approaches, the autumn is well and truly in full swing, with the changing of the weather and of the leaves on the trees. It’s time to start thinking about upcoming November birthdays and dare we even say it…..Christmas. In the coming months, we’ll be keeping you up to date with new christmas stock arriving in the shop and everything gift related from stocking fillers to statement pieces. But for now, before we start getting festive, we’ve put together this month’s birthstone blog to help you out with ideas for the approaching celebrations.

November has two birthstones to choose from. Citrine and Topaz are both considered birthstones for this month, citrine being a warm, orange coloured quartz stone with earthy tones which are perfect for this time of year, and have led to the popularity of this stone. Citrine can range from a lemon yellow colour to various stunning shades of orange. Citrine comes in a range of different shapes and sizes, making it perfect for creating pieces of jewellery. Topaz as a stone can be found to be brown, pink, most popularly blue and like citrine, a warming orange/yellow. November has two birthstones as both Citrine and Topaz are often mistaken for each other as they are both widely found in the same orange hues. Both of these stones radiate warmth, perfect for the chilly month of November.

We have a few gorgeous pieces of jewellery set in both silver, white and yellow gold which would make great birthday gifts.

This piece is citrine set in 9ct yellow gold. The pendant is made up of one round stone to the top with a tear drop shape citrine suspended from it. The stones are all 4 claw set, with a plain bale on an 18" yellow gold curb chain. The pendant being set in yellow gold adds to the warming orange colour of the stone. The tear drop stone hangs freely and reflects the light giving off plenty of sparkles as the gem moves. The stunning colours of the stones are shown off in this pendant and the simple setting allows for this. This pendant is a versatile piece that could easily be worn everyday with its simplicity, however would not look out of place in the evening as a delicate addition to any outfit, whatever the occasion. More information can be found on the above pendant via the following link: https://www.twwillcox.co.uk/citrine?pgid=k56skgj1-02ee1468-b143-4eea-8ba1-237b5caa4caa

The earrings match the above pendant, with round citrine stones to the top, claw set with tear drop shaped citrine stones attached to the bottom of the round stones, also claw set. The above earrings can be viewed here: https://www.twwillcox.co.uk/citrine?pgid=k56skgj1-1d3bf336-1a69-4f61-884c-049bc4e95764

This stunning second hand piece is a prime example of an art deco style citrine. With a large single emerald cut citrine stone to the centre, held in with squared off claws to each corner in a 14ct white gold setting. The colours in this stone are darker orange, even brownish - making it a fantastic piece for the autumnal season. With this being a single single stone, the piece is left to speak for itself, with nothing to take away from it or needing to be added to make this a simply stunning ring. The ring above is a finger size L 1/2 and can be sized. This would make a stunning birthday gift, with a lot of show for an affordable price at £625.00. If you require any other information on this ring, please do get in touch and we'd be more than happy to help.

As well as the citrine we have set in yellow and white gold, we also have a silver alternative. This pendant (also with matching citrine studs available) is set with one single round citrine stone to the centre, 4 claw set with a beaded surround and a beaded bale. This pendant is suspended from an 18" stirling silver curb chain with a 16" adjuster, so can be worn longer or shorter whichever your preference. A current design, this setting gives the citrine a more up to date look and would make a lovely gift for an autumn birthday at an affordable price of £39.50. Simple, subtle and modern with all of the warming colours of a classic citrine.

We can be contacted via all of our social media platforms, which are checked every day, via the messaging service on our website and via our email address. However, if you prefer a good old chat, we can help with queries over the phone as well as take payments, send images via text or email and generally just try and make things a little bit easier for our customers - we can even wrap the gift for you or send it out to your door if you are not confident collecting from the shop.

Christmas will be here before we know it, hopefully still with all of the festive cheer regardless of rules and restrictions. Over the next couple of months, we will be posting great gift ideas as they come in, from smaller stocking fillers and token gifts, to real show stoppers including our beloved second hand pieces as well as ladies and gents watches.
